About me

The hot bright lights dangled from the studio’s roof to create a halo effect of more than a thousand stars. Interminable wires ran nowhere and everywhere. Cameras faced newscasters on set and edit consoles dominated the control room. In a young boy’s eyes, it was the stuff of magic.

My early exposure to a television studio ignited my interest in communication. Dad was an engineer at NTA, Nigeria’s first television network. I was always excited about the occasional trip with him to work at the studios on weekends. By the age of 12, I knew I would not be an engineer like my father but a journalist or an actor. So I earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communication and a master’s degree in theater arts.

Then I found a new vocation along the way. I became interested in advertising and public relations. I served at top-rated PR and advertising agencies – InsightGrey, now Insight Publicis, The Quadrant Company and STBMcCann. I honed my PR skills working as a consultant at Synergy Consulting, and excelled at Globacom, Nigeria’s second largest telecommunications company, before I moved to the United States.

After two exciting years and a lot of hard work, I have earned a second master's degree – in public relations and advertising from DePaul University's top rated PRAD program. I have also learned a lot about the beautiful, vibrant city of Chicago and the practice of communication in my new environment.

As I continue on my journey, I remain positive and confident. My belief in the beneficial potential of communication and my passion for PR and advertising is as strong as ever. Just like the awestruck kid who walked into the television studios in those early days, I remain a believer in the "magic" of communication and a relentless advocate for using its immense powers for social good.
